Friday Foto Finder; Art

The Australian National Gallery is one of my favourite places.

I only wish it were closer.

Art gathered from all over the world and from all corners of Australia.

So much that the sculptures spill out over the lawns.

Next week, since the New Year is between now and then, the challenge will be to find some “FIREWORKS”

Friday Foto Finder; Chimney

Once an essential part of a builder’s knowledge, the humble chimney was often the highest point of a house.

In these days of electrical or gas-heated houses the chimney has been forgotten in modern house design.

Yet they had an intrinsic beauty

Of course the bricks for chimneys had to be made and that needed another type of chimney.

Friday Foto Finder; Animal

After a hard morning of pacing around his enclosure at the Perth Zoo,

trying to impress his harem,

Leo had to have a bit of a nap.

(the enclosure is large with a number of shrubs and trees to walk through and around and even to hide in.)

Friday Foto Finder; Mailbox

I found this old mailbox in one of the main streets of Busselton, a coastal town some 230Km south of Perth.

A reminder of the formality and importance attached to letters and the mail in times past. Its Victorian pomposity is wonderful.

While this was a working letter box back in 2004 when I took the photo, I have no idea if it is still in operation.
