Once an essential part of a builder’s knowledge, the humble chimney was often the highest point of a house.
In these days of electrical or gas-heated houses the chimney has been forgotten in modern house design.
Yet they had an intrinsic beauty

Of course the bricks for chimneys had to be made and that needed another type of chimney.

Do you have a chimney you can share with us?.
Leave a comment and a link here and we can all come and see.
Next week the challenge will be to find some “ART”

The chimney in that top photo has such an interesting shape! I find it quite beautiful.
And how cool that you have a photo of a brick factory. It is quite a striking structure.
What a beautiful chimney in that first photo! I don’t have any close-ups, so you have to look hard to see the chimneys in my photos: http://allicanblog.wordpress.com/2012/12/22/friday-foto-finder-chimney/
I found some chimneys similar to your bottom pic, used at an old ceramics factory here in Sevilla, but opted for something a bit more, um, weird…
